the overall objective of the project is to strengthen Kenya’s Quality Infrastructure system, in particular that of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), for trade facilitation.

Technical assistance was provided, focusing on the following outcomes

Identification of the main challenges, constraints and specific needs in terms of capacity building for the implementation of the Trade Facilitation Agreement and TBT

Strengthening and capacity building of KENAS to provide reliable conformity assessment, as well as KEBS in the development and harmonization of regional standards for EAC countries

Improved institutional capacity of KEBS and KENAS to provide assistance to SMEs and strengthen private sector engagement in KEBS and KENAS activities.

Conduct of a final conference on the project results, the Trade Facilitation Agreement, TBTs, Standard Setting Organizations and Standard Development Procedures with the participation of the private sector
