Caribbean Region (Trinity & Tobago, St Vincent, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica)
09/06/2016 - 31/01/2017
The ACP-EU TBT programme aims to contribute to improving competitiveness in local, regional and export markets by strengthening the export capacity of economic operators in ACP countries through: strengthening the capacity of regional and continental quality infrastructure institutions; improving the capacity of economic operators to comply with technical regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures established by major trading partners in selected priority sectors; and, disseminating results and experiences to enhance the capacity to provide intra-ACP support.
The objective of the project was to promote exports of locally produced agricultural and food products, with special emphasis on condiments and staple foods. To this end, support was provided to CABA (Caribbean Agri-Business Association) in promoting quality certification schemes among selected agri-food producers to meet international market requirements.
The project’s results and achievements, as well as the export opportunities for certified regional agri-food products, are presented to a wide audience during the annual agribusiness forum organized by CTA (Technical Center for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation).
