Support to Romanian SMEs in reference industrial sectors for harmonization with European Union legislation in areas of quality and safety of products, environmental protection and health and safety of workers in companies

For this, technical assistance was provided in order to increase the competitiveness of SMEs in the European Union market by harmonizing with EU legislation in the areas of product quality and safety, environmental protection and worker health and safety. in companies, carrying out the following activities

Identifying and selecting the EU directives that are going to be implemented: The number of the selected directives will allow approaching the most important aspects of the horizontal acquis in following fields: environment protection, products quality and safety and workplace safety, classifying, at the same time, the directives according to their priority.

Selecting the pilot SMEs in the four sectors: taking into account the following aspects: organization and management capacity of the company, marketing capacity, financial capacity, internationalization and cooperation potential (using the Internet, e-commerce, export capacity and the share of the export in the company’s incomes, the certifications obtained– ISO, HACCP etc.), the intellectual property rights obtained by the company, the existence of a research department, the existence of a branch abroad.

Assessment to the selected 400 SMEs: evaluating the selected SMEs from the point of view of their compliance with the EU directives identified.

Assistance for the SMEs for the preparation of 100 harmonization plans: identifying the types of investments and the costs, with a view to complying with the communitarian acquis, financial resources necessary for implementing these plans exist or can be identified from internal and external sources, and the priority of implementing some measures or investments instead of others.

Capacity building for the SMEs managers, operators in the selected sectors and the professional associations (elaborating the training needs, implementing the training, evaluating the training).
