The overall objective of the project was to achieve a better functioning of consumer protection, taking into account all elements of the system, in line with the EU acquis and best practices in Member States

This was done by increasing the efficiency of the consumer protection system through better enforcement, better communication and a higher level of awareness among key stakeholders.

The technical assistance provided was developed in the following areas

Improving consumer access to information on their rights and means of appeal.

Strengthening the consumer arbitration system and the consumer court system, for a more efficient implementation of the law and for simpler, fairer, more effective and accessible procedures for consumers.

Draft of a new strategy for the consumer arbitration system that relates to NGOs, the private sector and other alternative dispute resolution entities

Awareness of "traders" about the rights legally described for the consumer, their duties and obligations to be fulfilled.

Increasing the administrative and human resource capacity of consumer organisations
